Review: Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner in #13

After finishing my GOSH liquid liner, I was deciding on a few different brands for liquid eyeliners. At the time, the Make Up For Ever liquid liner just came out in stores and I was very amazed by itJ. I realized after using the GOSH liner that I really NEEDED a WATERPROOF formula. I’ve also heard that the brush/felt tip was designed for a more “ergonomic “ application which got my attention because in the mornings, I tend to be a little more shaky and less precise with my lines. After testing a few liners at Sephora and looking at reviews, I have decided to purchase this.

PROS: I love the formula of this liner. It is a very opaque black which means I didn’t have to go over my lines to redefine it. Also, it’s great at being waterproof and long lasting. At the end of the day when I remove my false eyelashes, the glue does not remove a chunk of the liner-It doesn’t matter by the end of the day when I remove my makeup, but that really shows the product’s ability to stay on my eyelids!

CONS: I noticed after using this liner for about a month that a bit of the product dries up in chunks at the cap. It doesn’t bother me too much because it doesn’t affect the application on my eyes, but it is quite unappealing. Also, this isn’t really a ‘con’ but this product does not dry up matte. I personally don’t have a preference on the finish of the liner, but I know some people are quite particular about it.
OVERALL: I really like this liner. I think it is great for people who wear false eyelashes and want thin lines! I give this a 4/5 J.

Review: Sephora Long-Lasting Eye Liner in 01 black

I tested a few liquid liners recently and this was one of them. At the time, I was looking for something that was waterproof, easy to glide on and long lasting. This one was reasonable in price so I felt I should give it a shot. I felt if I were to be disappointed, it wouldn’t be as big of a deal. However, if I end up loving it, it would definately be worth the price.

PROS: The price was really reasonable and this product is great for those who want a light, faint or natural line for their eyes. I say this because the opacity of the product is very low. It is great for those who at times, want a “barely any makeup” look.

CONS: After using this product many times, I noticed it stung my eyes when it is still wet, but goes away after the product is dry. I thought it was just me at first, so I used my previous eyeliner and it didn’t happen. I’m quite worried as to why it stung; this was the first time a liquid liner did this. On top of that, I’m really not a big fan of flexible liner brushes because I feel as though I don’t get steady control of the product.
OVERALL: This eyeliner is not bad taking into consideration the price I paid. It is however, not the right product for me and is not one of my favourites. I give this a 3/5.

Review: Dior Flight Makeup Palette for Face, Eyes and Lips in 002 Pink Escapade

I received this palette as a gift a while ago. When I first opened the package I was amazed by the sleek and pretty packaging. It’s made with a nice white leather-like material and a plastic tag similar to what is placed on a luggage. I thought this was a very cute idea for the exteriorJ. Inside, it came with a mirror, glittery fuchsia lipgloss, a lilac/pink eyeshadow and a pink blush.

PROS: This palette has a very nice packaging and appears to be very heavy duty. The idea for a “flight palette” was also very neat and I felt it would be very convenient. The palette also consisted of lipgloss, eyeshadow and blush colours that are both pretty and usable.

CONS: For a flight palette, there seemed to be way too much packaging. It looked great, but was not practical. Also, the quality of the eyeshadow and blush were average. The eyeshadow was a bit chalky and appeared as though it flaked on my eyelids. Also, the blush did not last all day which was disappointing.
OVERALL: The idea of this palette was great, but I was hoping for more eyeshadows to be included in this palette judging by the relatively large packaging. To be honest, I felt as though if I were to carry this for a flight, it is not enough of a variety and may need to bring other makeup products.  I give this a 3.5/5.

Review: Dior Matte & Shiny Duo Eyeshadow in 775 Silver Look

I was drawn to the very first colour of this duo. At the time, I really wanted a matte taupe colour to use all over my lids or simply on my crease area. Also, I didn’t mind the silver colour because I felt like I would have a reason to use it in the future. However, after using this several times, I’ve realized I didn’t really need the silver colour and was not worth my investment.

I’m not too sure if it is entirely my fault, but on the first day using this product, I accidently dropped it on to my carpet floor. This caused a “layer” of the taupe colour to break off. I was very unhappy and disappointed, but I used it anyway.

PROS: The taupe colour is indeed a very nice colour. I was looking for a colour exactly like it and was so happy when I found it. Also, the packagings of Dior products are very sophisticated and elegant, which I love!
CONS: I was very unhappy when the taupe colour broke. I didn’t think the situation was bad enough for it to happen. On top of that, the taupe colour was pretty chalky for a matte colour (which was why I believe it broke so easily). The silver colour remained intact when I dropped the eyeshadow, which made me think if the reason for the taupe shadow breaking was because of the quality or me dropping it. Also, the matte eyeshadow was not long lasting and a large portion of it rubbed off by the end of the day, especially when I used it for my crease.
OVERALL: The colours are very pretty, but not the best in terms of quality. I give this a 3/5.

Review: N.Y.C. Eye Liner Pencil 926A

I’ve seen Michelle Phan use this eye liner in her Barbie Transformation Tutorial and she said it was only 99 cents! On top of that, it seemed to have worked really well and opaque on her waterline. Since it was quite inexpensive and appeared great in quality, I decided to look for it and give it a try.
When I found it, the price was actually around three dollars CAD. It wasn’t too much of a surprise for me because we, as Canadians, pay a lot more for most of our products. But OMG, it was approximately three times the price she paid!!! In the end, I bought it anyways because three dollars for an eyeliner pencil is still pretty good even if it’s a drugstore brand.

PROS: It works really well! I like how opaque and long lasting the colour is. On a lazy day, I would use this eyeliner to highlight my brow bone, inner corners and line my waterline (the liner is still there by the end of the day!). Also, the price is still reasonable even in terms of Canadian dollars and it comes with a lot of “product” because it is the longest pencil liner I own so far.

CONS: None to be honest.
OVERALL: I was very impressed with this liner and I really do recommend this in terms of value and quality. I give this a 5/5 J

Review: ROHTO ice Astringent/Lubricant/Redness Reliever Eye Drops

A good friend of mine went on a trip to the U.S. and brought me back this eye drop. I’ve seen Michelle Phan and Eki use this before and both said wonderful things about it. I was really happy when my friend gave this to me because it is not available in Canada and I have wanted to try this for quite some time now.

PROS: First of all, I love the packaging. I’ve never seen packaging for eye drops this pretty before. It just makes me want to use it more often! I also love how it makes my “eye whites” more white and diminishes the redness. My eyes also feel refreshed and cooled after using it.
CONS: The effects of this eye drop are not long lasting. Although it was great when it lasted, I felt like my eyes were back to normal within an hour or so. I also dislike the fact that it must be used BEFORE wearing contacts, which means I cannot reapply it during the day whenever I wish. Also, I have been told that over-using this will reduce the effects and actually cause redness (similar to other eye drops for redness).
OVERALL: This is amazing! I just have to make sure I don’t use it too often! I give this a 4.5/5 J

Review: M.A.C. Liquidlast Liner in Inky

I was told many great things about this liquid liner such as long lasting, very waterproof and opaque which intrigued me into trying it. I looked at a few of the shades available for this liner and instead of the usual black, I decided to get the shade Inky instead. The product itself with its packaging gave me the idea that it is a navy blue with a hint of cobalt blue “shimmer”, which was really pretty. In addition, I chose this colour because I thought the navy blue would bring out my brown eyes as it will contrast the colour.

PROS: This formula is EXTREMELY waterproof. It is to the point where if I were to stand outside in the snowstorm and let the snow hit my face (not that I would>.<), my eyeliner will be PERFECTLY fine. Also, this liner is long lasting. It looks exactly the same throughout the day and doesn’t rub or flake off.

CONS: It took me FOREVER to remove at the end of the day. It may be a sign that my makeup remover is not strong enough, however, it still took the same amount of time even using a few other eye makeup removers. Also, after applying the liner on to my lids, it dries up looking a lot darker than the product when it’s wet. To be honest, it ends up looking like a black linerL. In addition, I am not a big fan of flexible brushes. I find it very difficult for a precise application and cause me to take a longer time.
OVERALL: This would be the best liner to use when dealing with a snow/rain storm. If not, then I would most likely not be using it. I give this a 3/5.

Review: Too Faced Glamour to Go Catwalk Collection

I received this palette from Sephora as my 500-point gift. I also received the Shadow Insurance with this as well which I reviewed previously. I was very excited in trying this out at the time because the packaging was very cool and I’ve heard wonderful things about Too Faced eyeshadows and blushes. I don’t intend on trying out their lip glosses in the palette because I don’t usually wear lip gloss. Why?  Because I highly prefer matte lips as opposed to creamy/glossy lips. Therefore, the lip glosses in this palette remained untouched.

This palette came with EIGHT eyeshadows. The first shade on the top row (starting from the left) is a dark shimmery brown colour that is more on the mocha brown side. I like to use this colour in the evening. Next, the second shade on the first row is a matte black colour with silver glitter. This is also something I like to use in the evening for a smoky look. The third shade on the top row is similar to the first shade, but lighter. This shade can be used for a day-time look and is more wearable. The fourth shade on the top row is a metallic silver lime green colour. This is a very interesting shade that I like to use on my inner lower lash line (just for a hint of colour).

Continuing on the bottom row of eyeshadows, the first shade is a pretty light shimmery pink that can be used for a sweet look. The second colour on the second row is a metallic plum purple colour that works really well to create a smoky eye. This is a very great colour for the fall and winter. The third shade is a pearly pink colour that is one of my favourites in this palette. Finally, the last colour is a shimmery beige colour that is similar to the shade Sidecar from the Urban Decay Naked Palette.

-blush is almost finished :(

On the bottom of this palette is a small “compartment” that slides out. This section contains a blush and four shades of lip gloss. Unfortunately, I did not use the lip glosses from this palette, but they are very pretty colours that I’m sure many would love. On the other hand, I am IN LOVE with the blush. It is such a beautiful peachy coral colour with fine gold shimmer that I use every day.
PROS: All of the eyeshadows that came with this palette were great in quality and colour. They included colours that I can use in the day and night time which was really nice. Also, I absolutely LOVE the blush that was included in the palette. I actually want to purchase the full size of this colour, BUT I don’t know the name of the shade OR whether it was made especially for this palette. I’ve tried looking for a blush shade as close to this as possible by Too Faced and I think it is the “Full Bloom Ultra Flush Blush” in the shade “Who’s Your Poppy”. I will most likely purchase it once I completely finish this shade and hope for the best that it is the exact same blush. In addition, I really love the packaging of this product overall, it is very pretty and easy to carry anywhere I go.
CONS: Unfortunately, the names of the shade colours were not given, therefore, if I wanted to purchase any of the shadows or the blush later on, it will be extremely difficult.
OVERALL: I really love this palette! It had beautiful eyeshadows, lip colours and a lovely blush! This is a 5/5J.

Review: Too Faced Shadow Insurance

I received this eyeshadow primer from Sephora as a part of my 500-point gift. At the time, I was already in love with my Urban Decay Potion Primer, so I didn’t give it a try until recently. As I was using this product, there are certain things I like about this primer that makes it a better choice in comparison to my Potion primer, however, there are also other aspects of this primer that makes it the less desirable choice.

PROS: I really like how this eyeshadow primer DOES keep my eyeshadows longer lasting and creates a more saturated colour. Also, it does not crease during the day and goes on smoothly when I apply it on to my eyelids.
CONS: After applying this product on my eyelids, it feels a little heavy for an eyeshadow primer. It has a similar feeling to a cream eyeshadow which was not what I was hoping for. Also, it has a very rich texture and because I tend to have oily eyelids, this adds to the heaviness I feel on my lids.
OVERALL: This is a great primer for those with DRY eyelids. This will neutralize the eyelids as well as keeping them moist. I give this a 4/5 J.
